In a never-been-seen video, the Canadian rapper, who is seen talking to his mom, Sandra Graham, admits that the Rihanna-featured track was inspired by none other than Tennis legend, Serena Williams.

“This is more about me and Serena,” Drake casually spills during the conversation. Back in 2015, the rumor mill was buzzin’ with speculation that Drake and Serena were more than just friends, and now, it looks like the truth has finally come to light. The track, which we all thought was just another one of Champagne Papi’s catchy hits (and one of my fave tracks on the album), is actually a peek into Drake’s feelings about his relationship with Serena.

Drizzy’s mom questions his intentions behind the song. He responds, “It’s funny because I make songs about women, but I also make songs for them. I’ll at least do them the justice of making them a song that they like.” He went on to reassure her, saying, “I know Serena very well. And I know that she’ll hear it loud and clear, but not hate me for it because it’s lighthearted.”

I gathered that,” Ms. Sandra responds with a hint of sarcasm before asking, “And she’s seeing someone…,” seemingly referring to Serena’s marriage to entrepreneur and investor Alexis Ohanian. Serena and Alexis became engaged in December 2016, welcomed their daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian, in September 2017, and then tied the knot in November 2017, in New Orleans. Drake, slightly aggravated, replies, “I don’t know, Mom.”

The clip, which has been floating around on social media, is part of a collection of unreleased music and a massive 100GB library of archived content featured on 100gigs.org. It includes behind-the-scenes recording sessions of “Views,” Drake’s fourth studio album (2016), which features the Serena-inspired song.

The timing of Drake’s revelation, and the release of BTS content, comes just in time as fans were starting to question his silence following his highly publicized beef with fellow rapper, Kendrick Lamar. Sure enough, Drizzy has reminded us that even when he’s silent, he’s far from stagnant. This strategic drop not only feeds fans’ curiosity but also reignites the conversation around his music, leaving us all on edge to see what else he’s been working on behind the scenes.
