A ‘Bad Cat’ Brunchin’ at Bearcat Cafe

Cat Daddy Biscuit + Shrimp & Grits @ Bearcat

A good, boozy brunch is the most important meal of the day. That’s the saying, right? Well, that’s what I say on any given Sunday (and sometimes Saturday).

So, I was in the mood for brunch with savory and satisfying comfort-type food, so Bearcat Cafe was the move. I went to the Uptown location [2521 Jena St] which is different from their CBD location [845 Carondelet St]. And by different, I mean it’s very BYOB [Bring Yo Own Booze]. BUT you are allowed to bring your own champs if you’re in the mood for a good mimosa. They’ll provide you with freshly made OJ (for purchase, not free).

Per the menu, at Bearcat, you’re either a “Good Cat” or a “Bad Cat.” I was Bad AF. Here’s what we ordered…

On Our Table

BAD CAT: Cat Daddy Biscuit – Chicken | Cajun Gravy | Sunny Egg | Biscuit – $19
[Cat Daddy Biscuit] + Bacon – $6
Shrimp and Grits – Gulf Shrimp | Stone Grits | Nola BBQ | Grilled Bread – $19
[Champs] + OJ – $3

It’s safe to say that I got my life (and that itis) at Bearcat. The total came me up to about $50, but the ambiance, the service, and the feeling of absolute foodie bliss were priceless. If you’re looking for a good, comforting brunch, Bearcat is where it’s at. With Vegan, Vegetarian, Paleo, and Gluten Free options available (“Good Cat” shit), there’s literally something for everyone. Peep the menu and getchu some! Pets are also welcome.
