Valentine’s Day is literally days away, and if you’re anything like me, you’re probably scrambling around, trying to make last-minute plans. Idk about you, but time has been flying by and these holidays have been coming at me real fast! This year, Valentine’s Day will look way different than last year, and we’ll be celebrating it a way we’ve never experienced: during a pandemic! 😩

With New Orleans’ COVID restrictions being strict as hell, there isn’t much to do around the city. Initially, I was going to list a slew of fancy-schmancy places to dine, but let’s be honest, reservations are slim-to-not-a-chance this late in the game. Instead, I’ve created a list of cool, last-minute things to do on Valentine’s Day (Sunday, Feb. 14) in New Orleans during a pandemic. From art walks to dinner deals, you can dabble into the following with your b*tches or your bae. Enjoy!

ART & CULTURE

Studio BE – Brandon “Bmike” Odums’ popular exhibit is the perfect place to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Not only does the art showcase black historical icons, but it also shines light on black love. Artwork throughout the 35,000 sq ft warehouse tells the stories of black revolutionaries, heroes, icons, and everyday New Orleanians. Open 2p – 8p. Purchase tickets.

JAMNOLA – JAMNOLA stands for Joy, Art & Music – New Orleans; And that’s exactly what you’ll experience throughout the NOLA-themed exhibit. Embark on a topsy-turvy stroll throughout the cultural funhouse featuring 12 rooms filled with artwork from over 20 local artists. Open 10a – 7p.  Purchase tickets – they go super fast!

ARTmazing Selfie Gallery – Established by local artist, Giselle Monteiro, ARTmazing is a “larger than life” interactive gallery showcasing pop art. It’s NOLA’s first selfie gallery where each installation is designed for visitors to complete the art by taking selfies, usies, or group photos. Let me put you on right quick: Local NOLA residents receive 20% off your ticket purchase on Thursdays & Sundays ONLY. Use code: LOCALS. Open 11a – 6p.

SIP & SAVOR

Ole’ Orleans Wines – If you and yours are staying in and wanna get wine wasted, sip on this local, black female-owned wine brand! Grab a bottle of Ole’ Orleans from Walmart’s “Black is Beautiful” section in all New Orleans + Baton Rouge stores. You can also find the brand in a Louisiana retailer near you ’cause sis is on shelvessss!

PeeWee’s Crabcakes – The black-owned seafood spot will be hosting a Jazz Sunday Brunch from 10a – 2p. The restaurant will reopen from 4p – 8p to serve a 5-course-meal at $61.99 per person. Reservations required for dinner.

Zea Rotisserie Grill – Zea is offering dinner for two for $49.99! Up until Valentine’s Day, get a three-course meal for you and ya bae (or ya bish) for the low. You each get an app, a salad & an entrée! And not just any entrées, good ones — like balsamic salmon (+5) and Thai Ribs (also an extra $5)! Peep the menu

Krewe of House Floats – Mardi Gras may have been canceled, but you can’t cancel the spirit of New Orleans. The city is filled with Mardi Gras house floats that exude the true spirit of carnival. Go on an intimate, citywide tour of over 40 neighborhoods showcasing displays like the Mardi Gras dinosaurs on St. Charles and the “Queen of Creole Cusine” tribute to Leach Chase in Bayou St. John. Check out the Official Krewe of House Floats Map.

*List will be updated throughout the weekend. Check back soon! – xo
