On May 26, it will be exactly 20 years since Lauryn Hill released The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. That album still reigns supreme as her best work to date. The fact that it’s her only body of work, as a solo artist, may have something to do with that. Nonetheless, Lauryn Hill is a name that has been ringing for years, and after Drake sampled her hit, “Ex-Factor,” on his new hit, “Nice for What,” she’s been talked about now more than ever before.
Last Thursday, during her performance at New York’s Apollo Theater, Lauryn transitioned her original song into a remix to Drake’s hit. “See this is ‘Ex-Factor’ / He took the sample / My sh*t is classic / Here’s an example,” she rapped over the tight beat.
To commemorate the 20th year anniversary of her debut album, Lauryn is going on tour! Her 20+ city tour kicks off in July and, right before it ends in October, she’s making her way downtown in NOLA. On Wednesday, October 3, Ms. Lauryn Hill will be performing at the UNO Lakefront Arena.
