Trombone Shorty, Boyfriend and The Revivalists, DJ RQ Away

Jazz Fest is finally here! Opening weekend is jammed pack with some of your favorite artists. If you aren’t going to the fest, there are beaucoup other cool events going on. Turn up!

ALL WEEKEND

Jazz Fest – Pairing live music with great eats, good drank, and nice weather, what’s better? Common, Sting, Khalid, Charlie Wilson, Big Freedia, Lionel Richie, and more will be performing opening weekend of the 2018 Jazz Fest. The festival takes place April 27-29 and May 3-6 at the Fair Grounds Race Track (1751 Gentilly Blvd). Advance tickets are $65 and $80 at the gate. Kids, ages 2-10, are $5; Kids 2 and under are free. On May 3, Louisiana residents get special $50 admission price, at the gate for “Locals Thursday.”

Robert Glasper Rotation Trio – Apart of Three Keys’ Night Two of Six of Saturns 2018, Robert Glasper will be giving an exclusive performance during Jazz Fest with his Rotation Trio featuring Chris “Daddy” Dave on drums, Burniss Travis on bass, and DJ Jahi Sundance plus special guests. General advance tickets are $40 and $50 on the day of show. VIP Mezzanine with Open Bar advance tickets are $80 Advance and $90 on the day of show. Space is limited, so get your tickets ASAP. Doors at 9P, show at 10P.

The Tipping Point – Good Music. Good People. Good Vibes. All going down for free at the Dragon’s Den. 10P.

DJ Soul Sister – From 11P – 2A, be prepared to let DJ Soul Sister take over your soul on the dance floor at her Hustle! event in the Ice Pit at Orpheum Theater (Underground). Admission is $15 but, as always, it’s free to party.

Boyfriend – Your favorite boyfriend will be performing an after Jazz Fest, late night, rap cabaret show at One Eyed Jacks. She’ll be accompanied by a surprise backing band (hint: it’s The Revivalists). Doors @ 1A.

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue’s Treme Threauxdown – For the past four years, the celebration has been one of the most attended events during the opening weekend of Jazz Fest. And like always, you can expect the lineup os special guests will be amazing (Matisyahu, maybe?). Previous guests include Andra Day, Juvenile, MystiKal, Nick Jonas, Usher, and more. 8P.

Matisyahu – The king without a crown will be performing as a special guest of Beats Antique at the Joy Theater. The late night show starts at 1:30A (technically 4/29).
