Fresh after moving back home, New Orleans’ native PJ Morton dropped a mixtape that exemplifies true, New Orleans fashion. Bounce & Soul is something like an ode to New Orleans. You see, bounce music is a big part of our culture, and you really can’t get it anywhere else in the world. It’s so New Orleans!
PJ took previous hits and added the classic, New Orleans sound to them. Songs like “New Orleans Girl,” “Lover” featuring Lil Wayne, and “Only One” featuring Stevie Wonder made the cut. The 10-track mixtape is hosted by DJ Raj Smoove and has features from Stevie Wonder, and the hometown homies, Lil Wayne, Mannie Fresh, Juvenile, 5th Ward Weebie, Trombone Shorty, Dee-1, Mack Maine and radio host Wild Wayne.

The mixtape is also available on iTunes.
Bounce & Soul will be released under PJ’s own label, Morton Records. The singer created the label in an effort to put New Orleans on the musical map. “My vision of it is to be a New Orleans Motown. … I want to pull from New Orleans talent, develop it and put it out to the world,” he told NOLA.com.
Tonight, PJ, along with PJ’s Coffee are celebrating the release of his mixtape and birthday at the Howlin’ Wolf. Tank and the Bangas, Dee-1, Jcksn Ave and more are set to tear the house down. Tickets will be available at the door or you can save the line hassle and purchase them here.
