New Orleans born and bred actress, Ciera Payton, will star in the new Wendy Williams biopic coming to Lifetime. Ciera is most recently known for her role as Lily on Tyler Perry’s The Oval.
The two-hour documentary will take us through Wendy‘s personal battles, struggles, and the public fall out with her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter. We will also relive the scary moment the talk show host fainted on-air in 2017.
Wendy Williams announced the release of the project on a past episode of her show, gushing about how proud she is of it.
“I’ve never been so proud of a project in my life,” Wendy said to her socially-distanced audience. “I’ve never been so proud,” she continued. The trailer, premiered by Entertainment Tonight, is juicy as hell and Ciera flexes her whole acting muscle.
“I am here to stay. Wendy Williams is not going anywhere,” Ciera says as Wendy in the sneak peek. “I’m gonna come in like a hurricane.” Scenes of drama then flash throughout the trailer. “You’re self-indulgent, you’re narcissistic, you’ve got a coke habit,” one of the characters exclaims.
In another scene, Wendy yells to her estranged husband Kevin, “Before I had you I had me, and not you, nor anyone else, have the power to take away my gifts.”
The trailer fades out, but not before Wendy firmly states, “I’m gonna bring the heat… I will turn this city out.” Watch the trailer below!
Wendy Williams: The Movie premieres on Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. CST on Lifetime.
