Erykah Badu will be performing on the main stage at this year’s Essence Music Festival during 4th of July weekend. But that’s not all. On the night of 4th of July, Badu’s alter-ego, DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown, will be spinning at New Orleans famous venue, Tipitina’s. New Orleans’ own, and my good friend, DJ RQ Away, will be the opening act. And if you’ve had a chance to witness Lagniappe, RQ Away’s packed out shows at Tipitina’s, you know it’s going to be good.
I’m totally here for this! Last year, I got the chance to experience DJ ?uestLove of The Roots as the headlining DJ at Tips during Essence Weekend and it was ah-ma-zing!
I’ll definitely be in the building. I suggest you arrive early. Last year, I got there about 1am, after leaving the Essence concert, and it was wall to wall.
