If you haven’t heard of rapper Dreezy, it’s time to climb from under that rock and get familiar. The Chicago native first received attention when she slayed a remix to Nicki Minaj and Lil Herb’s “ChiRaq” in 2014. But it wasn’t until her singles, the Serena Williams-inspired, “Serena,” featuring Dej Loaf and “Body” featuring Jeremih that she gained widespread attention. Her buzz landed her a verse from Gucci Mane on her latest single, and one of my favorites, “We Gon Ride.” Gucci was fresh out of prison when he hopped on the track. The 22-year-old had no clue the collab was in the cards. In an interview on The Breakfast Club, Dreezy said:
Just knowing the right people, we were able to get him the track and I guess he liked it. When I seen him, I was like, ‘Man, I appreciate you for getting on the song, you didn’t even have to do that.’ He was like, ‘Man, the sh*t turnt. I liked it.’ When I had the Gucci feature, I was lit all week. You couldn’t tell me sh*t.
The song is super dope and Gucci is the perfect feature on the track. The video is out now, along with Dreezy’s debut album, No Hard Feelings. The 19-track album features Dreezy doubling as a rapper and singer (she’s got the vocals, too), with additional collaborations with Wale and T-Pain. Peep the video and download the album below:
