Muriel’s Jackson Square’s 3 for $45 Menu Is Perfect for #TheFrugalFoodie

by Ashlee Nicole

For the past few days (and weeks), it’s been raining nonstop in New Orleans. However, on Wednesday, the rain finally took a break, making it such a pretty and sunny day. So, I met up with my girl, Nicole, for a nice lunch at Muriel’s Jackson Square.

Located in the French Quarter, Muriel’s is known for its rich history, culture, and cuisine. If you’re a Beyoncé fan, you may know that the queen and her sis, Solange, threw their mom, Ms. Tina, a 60th birthday bash in the restaurant’s elegant Séance Lounge in 2014.

Anyway, back to lunch…

Listen, if you’ve never been to Muriel’s, now is the time to go! Muriel’s quickly became one of my faves a few years ago when I hosted a group of out-of-towners for dinner during Jazz Fest. Now, when I want a fancy-ish dish that’s actually good, Muriel’s is my go-to. And the best part? Muriel’s offers their dishes a la carte OR you can choose three courses for $44.95. Perfect for the #TheFrugalFoodie!

From apps to dessert, here’s what I like to order:

Appetizers

Wedge Salad

Iceberg lettuce topped with a creamy creole dressing,
grape tomato, red onion, and crumbled blue cheese.
A la carte: $8.95

Shrimp and Goat Cheese Crêpes

Goat cheese-filled crêpes topped with fresh Gulf shrimp
in a buttery cream sauce of chardonnay, onion, tomato, and bell pepper.
A la carte: $11.95

Entrées

Crispy Onion Salmon

Faroe Islands Salmon topped with a sweet onion panko crust
and served with haricots verts and a wild mushroom cream sauce.
A la carte: $32

Shrimp and Grits

Slow-cooked stone-ground grits, topped with Louisiana Gulf shrimp,
leeks, smoked tomato butter sauce, and crispy garlic.
A la carte: $29

Sidenote: I don’t eat meat, but my mom swears by the Wood-Grilled Pork Chop (Double cut chop served with andouille potato hash, smoked corn cream, and haricots verts). Ma’am says that it is “DELISH!” and “you just have to get it.”

Desserts

Vanilla Bean Créme Brûlée

A la carte: $9

White Chocolate Bread Pudding

With candied pecans and rum sauce
A la carte: $9

Altogether, my food bill (three courses) was just $59.54. 🔥

Muriel’s is also one of the 86 restaurants participating in COOLinary this year. So, just like the regular menu, you get the choice of an appetizer, entree, and dessert for just $44.95. This year, the culinary event ends September 5,  2021, giving foodies extra time to ball on a budget! So Bon Appétit, bih!
