Happy MLK weekend! Although it’s a joyous occasion, this weekend will be bit of a sad one. On Sunday, the city of New Orleans will say their goodbyes to bounce legend, 5th Ward Weebie, who passed away last week. We will truly miss him, but will continue to keep his legacy going. Below, find deets on the funeral, as well as other events to get you in the party mood.

N̶O̶T̶ Supposed 2-Be Here – Brandan “Bmike” Odums, the visual artist, who’s the mastermind behind “Project BE,” “Exhibit BE,” “Studio BE,” and “Paint Where It Aint,” will be presenting his first, solo exhibit at Tulane University’s Newcomb Art Gallery. “N̶O̶T̶ Supposed 2-Be Here” will feature over 20 new & site-specific original pieces by Bmike. The opening night reception will be from 4-8P and will feature sounds by DJ RQ Away, bites by Chef Ashley Jonique, aka @LetDatGirlCook, and a family happy hour from 4-5P (featuring kid friendly art activities inspired by the show). It’s FREE and open to the public!

Late Night w/ DJs Tony Skratchere + Matt Scott – After the concert (or any event), head over to the House of Blues’ Foundation Room for a late-night set with DJs Tony Skratchere and Matt Scott. 10P.
Larry Morrow & Angela Yee’s All Black Birthday Affair – The New Orleans businessman/promoter and host of The Breakfast Club are celebrating their birthday at the biggest bash of 2020 (so far). Celeb friends, Kenny Burns, 50 Cent, and Jeezy will also be partying with the pair. The Fillmore | 10P | 21+.
SUNDAY, JAN. 19
5th Ward Weebie‘s Funeral – The city will be celebrating the life and legacy of bounce legend at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts. Trap N’ Bowl – Larry Morrow and Angela Yee’s All-Black weekend will end at The Fulton Alley for a little bowling, lots of music, and tons of fun. Doors open at 9P, and ladies get in FREE with RSVP ’til 11P.
