I’ve been waiting on this weekend for a while, mainly because my favorite foodiEvent is finally happening. But that’s not all; It’s the Saints’ season opener and there are a few festivals for the family. Have fun!

FRIDAY, SEPT. 7

Chefs Taste Challenge 2018Source: Instagram @chefstastechallenge

Gleason Gras & New Orleans Saints Pep Rally – Presented by Dave & Buster’s, the event will raise awareness for ALS and to support the Team Gleason Foundation. Team Gleason is an organization driven to generate public awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), raise funding to empower those with ALS to continue living with purpose, and ultimately find a cure for ALS. Saints fans are encouraged to meet at Champions Square for food, fun, live music, and more. $10 suggested donation; 5-10P.

Chefs Taste Challenge – The fourth annual challenge will return to the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center with Team New Orleans vs Team Gulf Coast. The event is a fun, fresh take on a food competition aimed at broadening awareness for the use of healthy, sustainable ingredients in preparing food. 7P.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 8
Pigs, Pearls, Pints, & Pinot

Farm & Table FAMboree – Part of the Farm & Table New Orleans experience, the festival is FREE and family-friendly. There will be cooking demos, home and garden education, an interactive kids zone, wellness pavilion, live farm animals, family fitness stage, music, games and more. Also, a mobile greenhouse, animal selfie station, local food trucks, and Amanda Shaw concert. All day (11A-6:15P).

Downriver Festival – The sixth annual festival celebrates the environmental, cultural, and economic impact of the Mississippi River and the land it built through live music, cooking demonstrations, presentations, panels, and walking tours. This year’s festival theme is “Gumbo and Daiquiris.” It’s happening on the grounds of New Orleans Jazz Museum, it’s free, and open to the public.

Pigs, Pearls, Pints and Pinot – A night filled with pork, oysters, beer, wine, football and live music? Doesn’t get any better than that. Tickets are $40. Proceeds from the event will go to DTB and Bacobar chef/owner, Chef Schaubhut, who is battling cancer. Dos Jefes, 5535 Tchoupitoulas Street, 6-9P. 21+
