Though the weekend is looking pretty light, you should be able to find a thing or two to get into. Have fun!

Pretty Woman: The Musical – The 90s romantic comedy was adapted into a musical in 2018. It’s been playing at the Saenger Theatre since Tuesday and will close out this weekend. Hit the link for times. 

Gretna Fest – Located on the river, the Westbank fest highlights the best in local, regional, national, and international talent, food, art, and crafts. This year, the entertainment lineup features Tank & The Bangas, legendary acts Con Funk Shun, The Beach Boys, The Original Lakeside, and more. The festival starts at 3:30p on Friday and 11a on Saturday and Sunday.

Gentilly Fest [10/8 + 10/9] – The festival that celebrates all things “Gentilly” returns to Ponchartrain Park with live music, food from local restaurants and caterers, and fine arts and crafts. This year’s entertainment features Raj Smoove, HaSizzle, Partners-N-Crime, and more. 12 – 8p. 

FRIDAY, OCT. 7

Playlist w/ DJ Raj Smoove – The “Greatest DJ in the World” will be spinning in the lobby at Ace Hotel. 10:30p. 

Sk8 Xcape – The “grooove master” Antwigadee is bringing his energy to Airline Skate Center with Big C. 10:30p – 1:30a. 18+ | $15 at the door.

The Tipping Point – DJ RQ Away’s weekly series will end this month. Until then, catch good vibes at the Dragon’s Den. This weekend’s edition features DJs B Nice and Kelly Green. No cover. 11p.

SATURDAY, OCT. 8

A Conversation with Nesby Phips – New Orleans-born and Hollygrove-raised, the multi-faceted artist’s “Beaucoup Power” murals have sent empowering messages throughout New Orleans and beyond. On Saturday, he sits down to discuss his journey and give a special demonstration at Maroon from 6 – 9p. 

Kevin Gates – The Baton Rouge native brings his Big Lyfe Tour to the Lakefront Arena with special guests, Morray, OMB Peezy, Hunxho, and DJ Chose. 8p. 

SUNDAY, OCT. 9

We Got Game w/ DJ Digital & Friends – Watch the Saints go against the Seahawks on the big screen while DJ Digital and Mikey Offline spin a mix of eclectic, danceable, feel-good music in the lobby at Ace Hotel. Food and special cocktails will be available. 3:30 – 7:15p. 

Black Girl Giggles – The comedy festival dedicated to highlighting Black women in comedy brings their monthly fundraiser, Second Sundays, to the Foundation Room inside House of Blues. The comedic lineup features Sylvia M. Holloway aka “Small Fire,” Ashleigh Branch, Geneva Joy, and more.
