It’s finally time to wind down from the busy week and get into what’s poppin’ in New Orleans this weekend. If you wanna fest, see a concert, or sip wine while dancing to trap music — it’s all below! Be sure to click on the event title for tickets and the venues for maps/directions.

ALL WEEKEND

Oktoberfest at Faubourg Brewery [9.24 – 9.25] – The FREE fest will feature live music, German eats and other goodies, new Oktoberfest beers, games for kids and adults, contests, and more. Faubourg Brewery, 12 – 7p.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 23

The Tipping Point – Catch good vibes at this weekend’s edition of DJ RQ Away’s weekly series at the Dragon’s Den, featuring DJs Groove Kidd and B-Nice. NO COVER! 10p.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 24

Beignet Fest – Benefiting kids on the spectrum, the delicious festival is back at the Festival Grounds at New Orleans City Park. Enjoy live music and art, and treat yourself to all things beignets from traditional, powdered sugar treats, to savory seafood and cheese-filled dishes. Proceeds go to local nonprofit organizations that provide accessible, quality programs for children with developmental delays. 10a – 6p. 

Red Bull Street Kings – The brass band competition is returning to showcase New Orleans’ musical and cultural legacy. Four competing bands — Kings of Brass, Big 6 Brass Band, Sporty’s, and Young Pinstripe Brass Band, will go head-to-head in three rounds. In one round, for the first time ever, each band has to collaborate with one of these local hip-hop artists: Treety, Alfred Banks, Stone Cold Jzzle, and $leazyEZ. The all-ages show will be held at Music Box Village from 2 – 5:30p; tickets are only $5!

Disco Nap w/ RQ Away + Phlegm – The New Orleans-based collective, TEMPLUM, is bringing “grown and sleepy” vibes to The Pool Club at the Virgin Hotel. Disco Nap “is a reprieve. a present tense party for the late bird” where you’ll get drinks of all kinds (including non-alcoholic concoctions) and good tunes. Free to enter + swim! 3 – 7p.

Trap Wine Fest – When you combine trap music and wine, things are bound to get classy and ratchet at the same damn time. Organizers postponed the original 9/4 event due to inclement weather, but it’s going down this weekend. The fest is coming to Armstrong Park and will bring the vibes with 30 different wines to sip, DJs spinning the best in Trap, trendy local chefs, live bands, games, activities, shopping contests, and more. 3 – 8p.

Whatever Forever: A Nineties Love Letter – I mean, the title speaks for itself, right? If you grew up in the 90s, then you know it was a time! The nostalgic event at Cafe Istanbul will be hosted by Bilal Ali-Bey, with sounds provided by DJs RQ Away, Quickweave, Kidd Love, D1ME, + special guests. 10p.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 25

SUSTENANCE w/ DJ Kelly Green + DJ Kuti – Presented by Support Black Art, this summer soirée series and digital platform has been celebrating Black artistic experiences all summer. Jet Life’s official DJ, Kelly Green, and DJ Kuti will be closing out the final summer edition of the rooftop party at The Pool Club at the Virgin Hotel. 3 – 7p.

Gasa Gasa Sundays ft. RQ Away – End your “Sunday Funday” on a dope note at Gasa Gasa jamming to a DJ set by none other than DJ RQ Away. NO COVER! 4 – 8p.

Rexx Life Raj – Known for hits, “Moonwalk,” “Time,” and “Handheld GPS,” the offensive tackle turned singer/rapper is bringing The Blue Hour tour to the House of Blues, along with special guest, rapper Travis Thompson. Doors at 7 p.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 27

Westside Boogie – Straight outta Compton, the rapper responsible for “Rainy Days” ft. Eminem and “Violence” ft. Masego will be making his way to the House of Blues to give a taste of his Moore Black Superheroes tour. Doors at 7 p.m.
