In case you missed the visuals for one of the hottest songs of the summer, I’ve got it for you. Earlier this year, Virginia’s own Big Baby D.R.A.M. and XXL Freshman, Lil Yachty, teamed up on “Broccoli,” the feel good single that came out of nowhere. According to D.R.A.M., who met Yachty through Rick Rubin, they hit the studio and pretty much made something out of nothing. In an interview with Genius, D.R.A.M. said:
He came to the studio and we had the loop of this going. We weren’t sure on what was going to make it carry over. At first, it was the piano with the drum loop, we had the flute and when that went in, everyone started vibing. Yachty started on his verse and I didn’t have any bars at first so I told him to go in. When he left, I didn’t even have my verse, I just had the bridge. It was just good timing. It turned into something more than I expected, to be honest, I thought it’d be something dope for Soundcloud and just good for the culture. But the fact that it’s bleeding into every facet of the musical charts, it’s dope as hell.
The unlikely duo dropped the track back in April and it’s been heating up the airwaves ever since. And now, the single is sitting at No. 2 on the iTunes Hip Hop/Rap charts. The video features big booty girls shaking while D.R.A.M. shows off his wild antics and Yachty plays the flute. Oh yeah, there’s lots of broccoli involved. Peep:
