Dominique McClellan brings The Wedding Party back to New Orleans for a Pre-Thanksgiving Weekend of family fun and laughter. McClellan landed in New Orleans three years ago with nothing to his name but a dream of putting his work to stage and eventually the big screen. He is proof that hard work and dedication pays off.

TWP Cast

The Wedding Party made its first debut at Camp Anaconda in Balad, Iraq, in 2008 where it was a huge success. This rare form of giving back to the troops made McClellan a household name within all of the military units on base. After retuning and refining, McClellan debuted The Wedding Party in New Orleans in 2014 with two fantastic runs, the first at Landry Walker Auditorium, and then The Historic Carver Theater. He then took his cast and show on the road in 2015 to Lafayette, LA with outstanding reviews.

Now, back by popular demand, The Wedding Party: The Jackson’s Family Story, will take center stage again Thursday November 19th – Sunday November 22nd at The Historic Carver Theater with 12 New Orleans actors who will take audiences through the ups and downs of family life. The play deals with the serious consequences of diabetes, the difficulty of teenage pregnancy, and offers comic relief from characters audiences have found funny and familiar, McClellan says. “The Jacksons are a good example of family. I think there’s a character that everyone will relate to.”

McClellan has not only added life to the play, but has revamped the musicality of the play with all local New Orleans musicians who will perform live. He adds that working so closely with all actors and musicians has led to an unexpected closeness. “We’re like a family,” he says. “It’s like a family atmosphere.”
