Last night, Kanye West performed on Saturday Night Live. Seconds later, he surprised fans with the release of his new, seventh studio album, The Life of Pablo, exclusively on Tidal.
Kanye’s first performance, “Highlight,” featured appearances by Young Thug, Kelly Price, El Debarge, and The-Dream. The second time around, Ye’s powerful performance of “Ultralight Beam” was again accompanied by The-Dream and Kelly Price, and Chance the Rapper and Kirk Franklin joined in. If you look closely, you’ll see the familiar face of Fonzworth Bentley at the head of the choir. It was amazing!
At the tail end of the performance, Ye squealed, “Album in store, KanyeWest.com right now; TIDAL, streaming right now, right now!”
Sidenote: If you head over to KanyeWest.com, don’t expect to see anything TLOP related. However, there’s an interesting message from Yasiin Bey, the artist formerly known as Mos Def. Apparently he’s been detained in Capetown, South Africa for over a month. Hit the link to hear his genuine plea.
Peep the performances:
The Life of Pablo has some heavy hitters on deck. Rihanna, Chris Brown, Ty Dolla $ign, Young Thug, Kid Cudi, and Kendrick Lamar bless the 18-track album, just to name a few.
