“Gilded Glamour.” That was the theme for this year’s Met Gala. Some hit, some missed, and some were absolutely dreadful… but that’s not what this post is about. Among hundreds of stars who attended fashion’s biggest night, it’s the Louisiana stars who repped The Boot for me!
From the 7th Ward to the Magnolia Projects to the streets of Baton Rouge and beyond, here are five Lousiana-born stars who strutted their stuff on the red carpet at the 2022 Met Gala.
Normani – New Orleans
Normani won the night. Period. Our New Orleans girl slayed the red carpet, decked out in custom Christian Siriano silk velvet. The Project Runway winner dished to his Instagram followers that Normani’s stunning look was giving “1875 modernized #gildedglamour.”
Fun fact: Normani’s dress was initially supposed to be red. “This gown was originally meant to be red, but we made a black version as a backup in just 4 days!” Normani said in a statement about her outfit. “After our fitting, we all loved the backup gown so much more!”
As for Normani’s hair, it was laid by the “Healthy Hair Guru” herself, Ashanti Lation. Ashanti, who is also from New Orleans, gave her followers a behind-the-scenes peek into the healthy process it took to nail Normani’s ‘do. Check it out!
